Project: Every four years, AIGA, The Professional Organization for Design, puts out challenges for designers to create posters that would encourage people to vote. As part of my Graphic Design 2 course, I was expected to create a poster that pushed Americans to want to take part in voting for the Presidential election, in 2020. AIGA gives specific requirements on what sizes the posters should be but does not give any specific requirements on content besides pertaining to the subject of voting.

Process: After receiving the project, I was first tasked with researching past posters done mainly in the 2012 and 2016 Presidential Elections. Going through these posters allowed me to see a range of different styles, color palettes, and compositions. Taking this into consideration I began sketching out ideas and thinking about what would make me, my friends, or my family vote. From there I began working in Illustrator and Indesign to come up with basics of the designs, making three different iterations. After critiques from the class, I worked to develop the three final designs, as shown above.
